In this year, BIRG contributed to the ASOCIMANO congress, the largest event for hand surgeons in Colombia and nearby regions, attracting over 300 specialists annually. As part of the official program, a symposium was held on Friday morning, 22nd August 2025 under the title “Advanced reconstructive surgery of the forearm and hands: innovations in the surgical technique”.
The symposium started with an introduction, followed by a presentation on the current status and activities of a specialized surgical group. Several talks focusing on advancements in 3D planning and computer-assisted surgery, highlighting the benefits of personalized solutions and the importance of collaboration between surgeons and engineers. Subsequent lectures covered complex forearm reconstructions, principles of joint arthroplasty, and long-term surgical outcomes. These talks included clinical examples and practical insights, emphasizing the effectiveness of tailored approaches in various cases.
In addition to course chairman Latin American BIRG member Dr. Carlos Torres and his colleague Dr. Julián Escobar, the two European BIRG members Dr. Eva-Maria Baur and BIRG President Dr. Martin Richter contributed to the complete success of this event with their extensive expertise.
